Most of the time while upgrading or jailbreaking, we need to put iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad Air, Mini etc. in recovery or DFU mode. But believe me, many iDevice users especially iPad Air or iPad Mini users get confused over in DFU mode (Device firmware Upgrade).
I have noticed that most of the time top jailbreak tools, iTunes and other utilities also get stuck on this step. The funniest thing is, this is a basic step, so, nobody explain it with screenshot step by step.
3 Easiest Method
Today, I will show you three different ways to get into DFU. Before starting up, I would recommend to read What is Recovery and DFU mode?
1st Method
- Connect your iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPhone or whatever iDevice you are using to your computer.
- Turn off your iDevice.
- Now press hold Power+Home button for around 10 seconds exactly.
- After 10 seconds, release power button but keep holding home button until your computer recognizes your iDevice.
- Most probably, you will be now on DFU mode.
2 Method
- As above method, connect your iDevice to computer.
- Here don’t turn off directly, but press the combination of Power+Home button until your phone turn off, you need to keep pressing for around 10 seconds.
- Now follow the 4rth step of 1st method.
- Done. You’re successfully in Device firmware upgrade mode.
3rd Method
- This method is slightly different. You need to attach your iDevice to your computer.
- Turn off your iDevice.
- Now press and keep holding “Power” button. As soon as you see display, without wasting a single second press “Home” button and keep holding both power and home button simulately for around 10 seconds.
- Now here too, follow 4rth step of 1st Method.
- Done
Conclusion
This are the handy methods and can be effective differently on different cases and iDevice. If you are not getting DFU mode successfully, you can reduce seconds from 10 seconds to 9, 8 or 7 seconds.
